Eastern and Western thoughts..

If you are not doing anything and not having anything in your mind, just go thru this piece of post and try searching yourself and add as many things as possible. How about Indian and Western thoughts? What? I know this sounds boring but I love to read and comment on these. Currently I’m reading one book ‘Indian thoughts and its development’ by one western author Dr. Albert Schweitzer. Now I’m in half of the book, yet to finish. I see thought process of my own land in an eye of one foreigner. We know our culture and practices as we are taught and told by our parents and elders, and by our own studies if our interest permits. And someday we analyze and find flaws in it, or in other words, we don’t find it correct as per our sphere of thought process. Yes we have our unique sphere of thought process, beyond which we can’t think, beyond which if something comes we fail to agree.

Life affirmation is backbone of western thought and Life negation is backbone of Indian thought.
Life affirmation exists in all human body, everyone lives life whether they like/dislike; its like something they have and they don’t want to loose. This is a normal human thought. Next is Ideal human being, who thinks about wellbeing of others, and entire human society. That’s how the western thought grows, with knowledge and ethics, ordinary human being is capable of doing anything and as a human being it has some duty to entire world and its peace and prosperity. See, this thought is so broad and open to everyone, no distinctions no restrictions. As per their traditional thoughts they have dual sense as opposed to monesthetic in eastern thoughts. Dual meaning, there sense is limited to two, that is good and evil. Whatever you do and wherever you go everything can fall into two categories good or evil. And yes, everyone will agree with this.

Now come to eastern thoughts, which I observed is self-centric. (No, don’t confuse with selfishness). As per eastern culture the sole purpose of human life is of enrichment of its soul and final destination is to submerge into the ‘Universal soul’ which is pure and complete where human being attends its highest stage ‘Nirvana’. The whole life would be spent as purification of soul (‘Atman’) and enrichment of it, to be eligible and attend the highest stage and to merge with ‘Universal soul’. This teaching is there in ‘Bhagwat Gita’. This highest stage is defined above all materialistic world, above all goods and evils we judge, happiness and sorrow we feel. Complete redemption of life. When we say Life, we say it is attached to the senses and all relative aspects. About which eastern thought says there is only one sense that is ‘Bramhan’ which is sole purpose of creations. According to Hindu thoughts, every living being has one pinch of it or say a part of ‘Universal soul’ and comes as a shape of one human-being or any living-being and finally merges to ‘Parmatman’. So knowledge and ethics are here too but to oneself and are passed to generation by generation thru teachings. And belief is too one, that is one ‘Universal soul’.

So both eastern and western thoughts say about one God, but their perception is so different. If you see logically eastern culture has different stages of life and has a goal defined and the process defined with rules and restrictions. But when you think practically these things are so difficult and seem impossible. And if we see current situation we will stick to western thought but actually it’s a stage defined in eastern thought, right? And you can see, if we will be in earlier stage and don’t want to attend the higher one, we would be in a death-fearing society. In higher stages, you will slowly depart from all these feelings.

I am amazed by these kinds of thinking…wow!!! I will finish reading the book soon and will again post my thoughts.
